Will Driscoll faces his abuser in court

Judgment day has come to Coronation Street. Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) is testifying in court against his abuser Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon). But the manipulative predator still has one trick left up her sleeve.

Megan has to be one of the most despicable villains to tread the Cobbles in years, and that is an extremely crowded field. The monster abused her position as an athletics coach to isolate young Will from his family and friends, coercing the schoolboy into a sexually abusive relationship. It was a carefully calculated campaign of grooming, so it came as no surprise that Megan had done the same to other innocent victims.

Collateral damage and unlikely hero

Her sickening abuse caused a lot of collateral damage. When Will's fellow classmate Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) suspected the truth, Megan bullied the poor lad so much that it drove him to the brink of a mental breakdown.

Justice comes in many forms, and in this case, it came in the form of Corrie's unlikely lad – Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine). Having experienced sexual abuse from an older woman first hand, Tim implored Will not to flee to Paris with Megan as they planned, and opened his eyes to the true nature of the abuse he had unknowingly suffered.

Megan's manipulation continues

It was a truly heartbreaking moment for Will to learn that the woman he trusted most was taking advantage of him all along, so it was with a heavy heart that he walked into the police station and reported Megan to the police. Even though she was arrested, Megan is adept at abuse and is more than capable of getting in Will's head from afar. She proved this week by reaching out to Will via his gaming console, messaging him with her love. She is already trying to get back inside Will's head.

It is clear the twisted paedophile has no intention of taking responsibility for her crimes. With ruthless lawyer Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) pleading her case, Megan is fighting the accusation every step of the way, even going so far as to get her mother involved.

The trial unfolds

With the trial about to hit our screens next week, vile Megan is about to take full advantage of her hold over Will in court. In the Rovers, the family fusses over a nervous Will as he prepares for court. While at the mental health unit, Sam frets about Megan's trial, worried she might be found not guilty and then come after him for revenge.

In court, Will's pre-recorded statement plays out, his family listens, overcome with emotion. However, when his barrister questions him, Will is met by Megan's steely gaze. Will he crumble?

Will's determination and the verdict

After the ordeal in court, Will tells his family that if the judge will allow him to testify again, he wants to tell the full truth about what happened. He enters the witness box and prepares to give evidence, face to face with Megan. Will he go ahead with it?

The Driscolls return home and tell Ollie that Megan's fate is now in the hands of the jury. What will the verdict be?
