Unsolved Sydenham Murder: Family's Plea One Year After Dad-To-Be Shot
Sydenham family's plea one year after unsolved murder

The heartbroken family of a young father-to-be gunned down in broad daylight in South London have issued a desperate plea for information, one year on from his unsolved murder.

A Life Cut Short in Sydenham

Curtis Green, 30, was shot and killed on Wells Park Road in Sydenham at approximately 10am on November 10, 2024. He tragically died at the roadside. Police investigations indicate that on the previous evening, Curtis had been at a flat party on the nearby Hensford Gardens.

Despite the passage of a full year, no one has yet been charged in connection with his death. The Metropolitan Police's investigation, named Operation Bansara, remains active and urgent.

A Family's Agonising Plea for Justice

In a powerful and emotional statement released through the Metropolitan Police, Curtis's family described the profound devastation his loss has caused. They directly appealed to the conscience of their community.

"London communities are interconnected through music, food, friendship, love, beliefs and blood," the family stated. They emphasised that street violence and the murder of young people is a deep concern for all.

The family's message continued with a direct call to action: "We, his family, appeal to those who know something to be brave and come forward. You have a chance to heal our heartache." They spoke of the "hurt, grief, stagnation and destruction" they have been forced to endure, a pain they wish to prevent others from experiencing.

A Legacy of Love and a Son He'll Never Meet

Curtis Green was described as an entrepreneur, full of ambition. At the time of his murder, he was the owner of both a clothing brand and a fitness company.

His life was filled with exciting future plans; he was expecting a child in early 2025. His family confirmed that his son has now been born and will grow up without ever physically meeting his father.

"Curtis was and still is a much-loved member of our family and community," they said. "We miss Curtis every single second of every single day." They ended their plea with a stark reminder: "Popularity should not come before accountability."

The Police Investigation and a £20,000 Reward

Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend, the officer leading the investigation, reiterated that even the smallest piece of information could be vital. "You may not think the information that you have is important, but it may prove vital to this investigation," she said.

She assured potential witnesses that the police will support them and do their best to protect their identity if they come forward.

To incentivise information, the charity Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for any information that leads to a conviction. This reward is available for three months and is set to expire on February 10, 2026.

Reports can be made completely anonymously to Crimestoppers online or by phone on 0800 555 111, with calls being untraceable. Information can also be given to the police by calling 101 and quoting the reference CAD 2527/10NOV24 or Operation Bansara.

Other Victims and Arrests

The shooting incident also left two other people injured. A 27-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were both shot.

The man presented himself at a hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening or life-changing. The woman was shot in the legs and faced what was described as a 'long road to recovery', requiring a hospital stay of over a week.

Police have confirmed that two arrests were made in connection with the case. Both individuals were subsequently released on bail, pending further enquiries.
