The forward for Real Madrid and captain of the French national team will feature on the game's cover, marking his first appearance on an EA Sports FC title cover, though he previously appeared on three FIFA covers.
Gameplay trailer set for July 23
A gameplay trailer for EA Sports FC 27 is scheduled to debut on Thursday, July 23 at 5pm BST. This follows a recent leak regarding the game's release date and platforms, which suggested it will still be available on last-generation consoles.
Mbappé expressed his excitement: 'To be featured on the cover of an EA Sports FC title for the first time is a very special moment for me. It’s an honour to continue my long-term relationship with the franchise in its latest chapter, alongside the players who have shaped its history. I can’t wait for everyone to experience FC 27.'
Mbappé's World Cup performance and EA's prediction streak
Mbappé was the top scorer of the recent World Cup, netting 10 goals and earning his second Golden Boot award, making him the first player to receive it twice. France finished fourth, losing to England in the semifinals. Spain ultimately won the tournament, a result EA successfully predicted by running simulation matches in EA Sports FC 26. This marks the fifth consecutive time EA has correctly forecast a World Cup winner using its football games.

Standard edition cover star still unknown
The cover star for the standard edition of EA Sports FC 27 remains unconfirmed. Leaker DetectiveFUT, who previously claimed Ronaldo would be the Ultimate Edition cover star, has suggested two possibilities: either England and Real Madrid player Jude Bellingham alongside French footballer Ousmane Dembélé, or a different Real Madrid player paired with someone from Barcelona. Given Bellingham's strong World Cup performance, he appears to be the likely choice.
