A small town in Wiltshire, just an hour and a half train ride from Central London, has been hailed as a storybook destination by visitors. Bradford-on-Avon, known for its honey-coloured cottages, historic buildings, and scenic canal walks, has drawn praise on TikTok from travel enthusiast Eliza, who documents her UK travels.
Charming Day Trip from London
Eliza shared a video of her visit to Bradford-on-Avon, writing: "If you’re looking for a charming day trip from London, Bradford-on-Avon deserves a spot on your list." The town, located near the Somerset border, features a canal, medieval Town Bridge, and the Saxon Church, one of England's oldest churches.
Visitors can explore cobbled streets lined with honey-coloured cottages, walk across the medieval bridge overlooking the River Avon, or stroll along the Kennet and Avon Canal to watch colourful narrowboats. Eliza recommended exploring The Shambles, a pretty street often missed by tourists, saying: "While most people stop at the tea rooms, make sure you also explore The Shambles - one of the town’s prettiest streets, full of character and hidden corners."
Storybook Appeal
Viewers echoed Eliza's enthusiasm. One commented: "It really does look like it’s straight out of a storybook." Another said: "This is what every person wishes the whole of England looked like." A third user compared it to Beauty and the Beast. However, one visitor noted a heatwave during their trip, saying they felt "cheated because it was a heatwave not the rain I saw in the TikTok."
Bradford-on-Avon offers a mix of history, riverside walks, and picturesque streets, making it a popular day-trip destination. Eliza concluded: "Whether you’re visiting for the history, riverside walks or postcard-perfect streets, Bradford-on-Avon is one of those places you’ll want to return to again and again."
