Manchester United are preparing a £30 million bid for West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville as a replacement for Marcus Rashford, according to reports. Summerville, who impressed for the Netherlands at the World Cup, is expected to leave West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League.
United's midfield rebuild continues
United have already strengthened their midfield with the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and a shock move for Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans, whose £35 million release clause was activated. However, the club's priority remains offloading Marcus Rashford and bringing in a left winger.
Rashford will return to Carrington after the World Cup following Barcelona's decision not to make his loan permanent. The Catalan club instead signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. United's preference is to sell the 28-year-old England star, with Summerville identified as the top target to replace him, according to the Guardian.
West Ham open to selling
West Ham are open to selling the Dutchman, but reports earlier in the summer suggested it could take considerably more than £30 million to secure his departure from the London Stadium. Arsenal are also credited with interest in the former Leeds United star as they look to bolster the left side of their attack.
United's midfield rebuild is not yet complete, with the club hoping to sign a third midfielder before the new season. An approach has been made for France and Roma star Manu Kone, with the Serie A side reportedly ready to let him leave for £51 million. Alex Scott and Eduardo Camavinga are also named as players admired by Michael Carrick, but both have asking prices around £80 million, making a move for either unlikely, the report adds.
