A murder investigation has been launched following the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man on a residential street in northwest London. The Metropolitan Police are urgently appealing for witnesses and information after the incident in the Stonebridge area of Brent.
Police Respond to Late-Night Shooting
Officers were called to reports of a shooting on West End Close, Stonebridge, shortly after 9.30pm on Friday, 19 December 2025. Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene.
Despite the best efforts of all responders, the victim died at the location. His next of kin have been informed and are now receiving support from specialist police officers. No other injuries were reported from the incident in Brent.
Detectives Appeal for Crucial Information
Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Neil John from the Met’s Specialist Crime Team stated that his team's thoughts were with the family and friends of the victim. He confirmed that enquiries are progressing rapidly to establish the circumstances that led to this tragic death.
DCI John acknowledged the concern such an incident would cause locally and further afield, but reassured the public that patrols have been increased in the area. He emphasised that the investigation remains a priority.
The detective issued a direct appeal for assistance, urging anyone who witnessed the event or has information to make contact. He specifically asked for people with dashcam footage to come forward. Police also believe a large group of people was congregated nearby when the shooting happened and are keen to speak to them.
