Man charged with murder of Julie Wilson in South London

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a residential address in South London.

Victim identified and suspect charged

The victim has been formally identified as 58-year-old Julie Wilson. She was discovered at a home on Rodney Road in North Walworth on Sunday, December 14.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 2.25pm that afternoon following reports expressing concern for a woman's welfare.

Court appearance and upcoming trial

James Flanagan, 53, of Stead Street, North Walworth, was subsequently charged with murder on Wednesday, December 17.

He made his initial appearance at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Thursday, December 18, where he was remanded in custody. The case has now been referred to the Central Criminal Court.

Flanagan is scheduled to appear for a hearing at the Old Bailey on Monday, December 22.

Police investigation continues

Detective Inspector Mark Franklin, who is leading the investigation, stated: "Our thoughts are with Julie's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

He added a crucial appeal: "While a man has now been charged, our investigation continues, and we urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to come forward."
