Tragedy in Cardigan as Young Woman Found Dead
A murder investigation has been launched in West Wales after the body of a 21-year-old woman was discovered at a boat yard in Cardigan. The victim has been named by police as Corinna Baker, who was found at the Netpool Boat Yard on the River Teifi at approximately 12.35pm on Saturday.
Family's Heartbreaking Tribute
In an emotional statement released on Sunday, the family of Corinna Baker expressed their profound grief. They described themselves as "distraught" at the loss of their "beloved Corinna."
The family's tribute continued, stating she was "much loved" and would be "greatly missed by her whole family and all those who were blessed to have known her." They have appealed for anyone with information to come forward and have requested privacy to grieve during this difficult time.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. Officers are now urging anyone who was in the area of the boat yard from around 9pm on Thursday to make contact with them, emphasising that even the smallest detail could be significant.
Detective Superintendent Wayne Bevan stated: "Our thoughts are with Corinna's family at this understandably tragic time." He confirmed that specially trained officers are supporting the family and echoed their request for privacy. Detective Superintendent Bevan added a direct appeal to the public: "I urge anyone with any information, to please come forward and support our ongoing investigation."
