A murder investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan Police after a 55-year-old man was fatally shot on a residential street in North West London. The victim, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday night.

Officers were called to West End Close in the Stonebridge area at approximately 9.35pm on Friday, December 19, 2025. Despite the rapid efforts of paramedics to resuscitate him, the man succumbed to his injuries. No arrests have been made, leaving the perpetrator on the loose.
A significant police cordon has been established, leading to the closure of the A404 Hillside in both directions between Twybridge Way and Shakespeare Avenue. Forensic teams are conducting a meticulous examination of the area as the hunt for the gunman intensifies.
Appeal to Witnesses and Local Community
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, expressed his condolences to the victim's family and friends. He also issued a direct appeal for information, emphasising a specific line of enquiry.
"We believe there was a large group of people congregated nearby at the time the incident happened, and we are keen to hear from them," DCI John stated. He urged anyone with information, including motorists with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the shooting, to come forward immediately.
To reassure a concerned public, the Met has confirmed an increase in patrols within the local community while the probe continues at pace.
