Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) finds herself in grave danger behind bars on Coronation Street as she becomes the victim of a vicious prison beating. The shocking attack leaves her badly bruised, and her daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) is horrified when she sees her mother’s injuries during a visit.
Prison Attack Shocks Sarah
In upcoming episodes, Sarah is left seriously unnerved when a tough-looking inmate shoots her a look that could kill. The tension escalates, and later, during visiting hours, Bethany arrives to see Sarah and is horrified to see that her mum’s face is badly bruised. The attack raises questions: Why would anyone hit Sarah? Does the attacker have some connection to Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), the man Sarah killed? Did they find out that she’s dating a cop? Or did they simply take a dislike to her for no apparent reason?
Sarah’s imprisonment has been a major storyline, with many fans predicting she would never be convicted for Theo’s murder. Despite the best efforts of her bent copper boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to frame her ex Gary Windass (Mikey North) for the crime, the truth finally came out when police swarmed the Platts’ and DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) personally slapped the cuffs on Sarah.
Kit’s Desperate Plan
Even with Sarah banged up, Kit is determined to spring his jailbird from her cell. This week’s trip to the Cobbles will see Weatherfield’s most bent bobby attempt to prove that Gary was the reason Sarah didn’t go to the police at the time. Sarah killed Theo in self-defence, and immediately called Gary in a panic – which had to sting Kit a bit. Admittedly, Gary does have experience when it comes to murder. If Kit can prove that the badboy builder convinced Sarah not to come forward at the time, it could give her a literal get out of jail free card. Or at the very least, a reduced sentence.
Quite frankly, the sooner Kit can get Sarah out of jail the better. It might already be too late. Because one of her fellow prisoners is about to take a serious disliking to her, in next week’s episodes of Coronation Street.
What’s Next for Sarah?
The attack adds a new layer of danger to Sarah’s already precarious situation. With her trial looming, the question remains whether Kit’s plan will succeed in time. Fans are speculating about the attacker’s motive, with theories ranging from a connection to Theo to a simple case of prison hierarchy.
