Woman Fights Off Phone Thief at West London Tube Station, Jacket Torn
Phone theft attempt at Stamford Brook Tube station

Police are hunting a man after a terrifying attempted robbery on a young woman at a West London Underground station, which saw her jacket ripped as she bravely fought to keep her mobile phone.

Struggle on Station Stairs

The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 25, just before 11.30pm. A 19-year-old woman was followed off a District line train at Stamford Brook Underground station by an unknown man.

As she made her way up the stairs to exit the station, the man confronted her and attempted to forcibly steal her mobile phone. A physical struggle ensued during which the assailant ripped the woman's jacket while grabbing for the device.

Bystanders Intervene as Suspect Flees

The alarming altercation was interrupted by the courageous actions of other passengers, who stepped in and pulled the man away from the victim. Seizing the opportunity, the suspect then fled the scene, boarding a train to make his escape.

Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) have launched an investigation into the attempted robbery. They have now released a CCTV image of a man they believe may have vital information that could assist their enquiries.
