The British Transport Police (BTP) have launched a public appeal for information following a serious sexual assault on a London Underground train.
Appeal for Witnesses After Traumatic Ordeal
The incident occurred on the District Line at approximately 8pm on Monday, December 15. A woman was travelling towards Cannon Street Station when a man sat down beside her and sexually assaulted her.
In a distressing attempt to escape her assailant, the victim moved seats on two separate occasions. However, the man persistently followed her each time, sitting down next to her again to continue the assault.
CCTV Image Released in Public Appeal
Investigators from the BTP have now released a CCTV photograph of a man they urgently wish to identify. They believe he may hold vital information that could significantly aid their ongoing investigation into the attack.
Detectives are asking anyone who recognises the individual in the image to make immediate contact.
