Transport for London (TfL) has announced a series of closures and diversions affecting the capital's travel network this weekend, with major disruptions on several Tube lines, Overground routes, and mainline rail services. The most significant impact will be the complete closure of Charing Cross and Waterloo East stations until Sunday, August 16, due to a major track upgrade project.
Charing Cross and Waterloo East Shut for Track Upgrades
Passengers using Southeastern services that normally terminate at Charing Cross will need to adjust their plans, as trains will be diverted to Blackfriars, Cannon Street, London Bridge, or Victoria stations instead. The closure is part of a large-scale engineering work aimed at improving rail infrastructure in the area. According to Southeastern Railway, valid national rail tickets will be accepted on TfL Tube and bus services to and from these alternative terminals.

From Monday, August 10, to Thursday, August 13, no westbound service will run from Camden Road to Willesden Junction after 11:45 pm each night. Additionally, from Tuesday, August 11, to Friday, August 14, there will be no southbound service from Willesden Junction to Shepherd's Bush until 06:15 each morning. Passengers are advised to use the Lioness line, Northern line, or local bus routes during these times.
Suffragette and Windrush Line Closures
The Suffragette line will have no service between Gospel Oak and Barking until 9:45 am on Sunday, August 9, and no service between Barking and Barking Riverside until 12:30 pm, with local bus route EL1 as an alternative. The Windrush line will see no service between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace/West Croydon after 11:30 pm on Thursday, August 6, with Southern Railway replacement buses or local bus services available. On Sunday, August 9, there will be no service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction, and Windrush line services will call at Battersea Park instead. Passengers can use local bus routes or Southern Railway trains between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction.
