London Tube Strikes: Affected Lines and Times Announced

Hundreds of London Underground drivers are set to walk out over two days of planned strikes, causing major disruption for commuters. The industrial action, organized by the RMT union, will affect at least four Tube lines with 24-hour stoppages scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, and Thursday, June 4.

Strike Details and Affected Lines

The strikes will run from 00:01 to 23:59 on both days. On these dates, no service is expected on the Circle line or the Piccadilly line. Additionally, there will be no trains on the Metropolitan line between Baker Street and Aldgate, and on the Central line between White City and Liverpool Street. Other lines, including the Overground and Elizabeth Line, will operate but with reduced service levels, starting later and finishing earlier. Commuters are advised to complete their journeys before 9 pm on strike days.

Background of the Dispute

The RMT union previously staged a strike in April over a dispute concerning a four-day working week. A planned strike for May 19 and 21 was called off at the last minute after progress in talks. Transport for London (TfL) has stated that any four-day week schedule would be voluntary and would not reduce contracted hours. TfL chief operating officer Claire Mann expressed disappointment over the strike, urging the RMT to continue negotiations to avoid disruption.

RMT confirmed the strikes would proceed, citing concerns that the proposed four-day week could lead to fatigue, longer shifts, and reduced flexibility. TfL has asked customers to check before traveling and allow extra time for their journeys.

Service Information

A normal service is expected on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. TfL is continuing discussions with union representatives to find a resolution. For the latest updates, passengers are advised to check TfL's website or app before traveling.
