A man in his 70s has died after being trampled by cattle while walking at a National Trust estate in Norfolk. Emergency services were called to the Felbrigg Hall Estate, near Cromer, shortly before midday on Monday, July 13. Despite paramedics' efforts, the man suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.
Investigation launched by police and HSE
Norfolk Police confirmed that an investigation is underway alongside the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). A spokesperson said: 'His next of kin have been informed. Officers are investigating alongside colleagues from the Health and Safety Executive.' The National Trust expressed shock and deep sadness, stating: 'We are shocked and deeply saddened by this news, and our thoughts and condolences are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.'
Estate closed as inquiry proceeds
A notice on the Felbrigg Hall website says the site is 'currently closed and will remain so' today. The 17th-century estate includes a lake and some 520 acres of woods. A National Trust spokesperson added: 'As an investigation is under way, we are unable to comment further.'
