South London roads shut: gas leak and burst water main

A gas leak in Greenwich and a burst water main in Eltham have forced the closure of two busy South London roads, causing significant traffic disruption and bus diversions.

Greenwich gas leak closes Creek Street

Creek Street eastbound is closed between Norway Street and Greenwich Market due to a gas leak. London bus routes 188 and 199 are on diversion.

Eltham burst water main shuts High Street

Eltham High Street is blocked in both directions between Court Yard and St Marys Place after a water main burst overnight. Traffic monitoring site INRIX reports that 13 London bus routes have been diverted due to the incident.

Reports of flooding in Eltham first emerged shortly before 10.50pm on Monday, July 13, with social media videos showing part of the road submerged.
