Weekend Travel Alert: Major Closures Across London's TfL Network
Major TfL Closures This Weekend: Tube, Overground, Elizabeth Line

Extensive TfL Network Closures Scheduled for This Weekend

Transport for London has issued a comprehensive list of closures affecting the city's transport network this weekend, spanning Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15. Commuters and travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance, as multiple lines will experience partial or full shutdowns due to maintenance work and track upgrades.

London Underground Disruptions

Four London Underground lines will face significant closures over the weekend. The Circle line will have no service between Edgware Road and Tower Hill via Moorgate on both days. Similarly, the District line will be suspended between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington, with passengers directed to use the Circle line as an alternative.

The Hammersmith & City line will be out of operation between Edgware Road and Barking, while the Metropolitan line will see no service between Baker Street and Aldgate. TfL recommends using alternative Tube services or local bus routes during these disruptions.

London Overground and Elizabeth Line Closures

Five Overground lines will be impacted, with the Liberty line entirely shut between Romford and Upminster on both Saturday and Sunday. The Mildmay line will have no service between Willesden Junction and Shepherd's Bush from 7:30 PM on Saturday until midday on Sunday.

On Sunday, the entire Suffragette line between Gospel Oak and Barking Riverside will be closed for track work, with Tube services or replacement buses available. The Weaver line will experience reduced service, with no trains after 11:15 PM on Saturday and only a limited service from London Fields to Enfield Town, Cheshunt, and Chingford on Sunday until 10:15 AM. The Windrush line will see trains diverted to Battersea Park after Wandsworth Road on Sunday.

The Elizabeth line will face closures between Stratford and Shenfield on both days, with rail replacement buses in operation. Additionally, on Sunday, there will be no service between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7:45 AM, and trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell, and West Ealing throughout the day.

DLR and Additional Information

The Docklands Light Railway will have no service between Poplar and both Stratford and West India Quay on Saturday and Sunday. Passengers are advised to use the Jubilee line or local buses as alternatives.

These closures are part of ongoing maintenance efforts by Network Rail and TfL to ensure the safety and efficiency of London's transport infrastructure. Travelers should check TfL's official website or app for real-time updates and plan extra time for their journeys.
