London Travel Chaos: Major Tube & Overground Closures This Weekend
Major London transport closures this weekend

Londoners are being warned of significant travel disruption this weekend as Transport for London (TfL) implements a series of major closures for essential engineering works.

Full Line Closures and Severe Disruption

The entire Lioness line, running between Euston and Watford Junction, will be completely shut down on both Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30. This closure is due to National Rail maintenance work. Passengers are advised to use replacement bus services on routes 718 and 720.

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will also face extensive closures. There will be no service between Bank and Lewisham, Tower Gateway and Canning Town, and a full closure between Canary Wharf and Stratford. This is for signal testing and essential maintenance. Travel alternatives include the Tube, Elizabeth line, national rail services, or local bus routes, with rail replacement buses operating on key sections.

Other Affected Tube and Rail Services

The travel woes extend beyond the Overground and DLR, with several other key lines facing partial shutdowns.

On the Bakerloo line, there will be no service between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone on both Saturday and Sunday due to track maintenance. Passengers can use other Tube lines or the additional 718 and 720 bus services.

The Northern line will have no trains between Golders Green and Edgware over the weekend because of track work. Furthermore, the Friday Night Tube service will be suspended between Hampstead and Edgware from 1.30am until 2.45am.

The Windrush line (London Overground) will be affected on Sunday, November 30, with no service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction. Replacement buses will run to and from Canada Water.

Finally, the Elizabeth line will see disruptions on Sunday. Trains will not stop at Woolwich Arsenal until 10am, and there will be no service between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am.

Planning Your Alternative Journey

TfL is strongly encouraging all passengers to check their journey before they travel this weekend. The combination of multiple closures is expected to cause severe disruption across the network.

Using other Tube lines, London buses, or national rail services where possible is recommended. All travellers should allow for significant extra time for their journeys and consider if their trip is absolutely necessary during the affected periods.
