Arsenal and Chelsea Fans Face Tube Disruption This Weekend

Arsenal and Chelsea supporters heading to Premier League matches this weekend will encounter significant travel disruption due to London Underground closures and infrastructure repairs.

Arsenal Tube Station Closed for Repairs

Arsenal Tube station, the nearest station to the Emirates Stadium, is closed because of concerns that it may be sinking after infrastructure damage was discovered. Fans are advised to use alternative stations including Highbury and Islington, Holloway Road, or Finsbury Park.

Richard Jones, director of asset performance delivery for London Underground, stated: “Arsenal Tube station is currently closed so that we can repair infrastructure damage within the station. Our teams are working around the clock to repair the damage as quickly as possible, and we will share more information on the reopening and operation of the station as soon as we can.”

Arsenal's match against Leeds United is scheduled for 12:30pm on Saturday, October 10. Arsenal currently sit 2nd in the Premier League table, while Leeds are 5th.

District Line Disruption Affects Chelsea Fans

Chelsea supporters will also face issues as trains will not stop at Fulham Broadway, the closest station to Stamford Bridge, due to maintenance work on the Wimbledon branch over both Saturday and Sunday. This closure is not new to Chelsea fans, as Fulham Broadway has been regularly closed on weekends for the past few months.

The disruption will also impact passengers travelling between Edgware Road/Tower Hill and Ealing Broadway, Kensington (Olympia), and Richmond. Supporters heading to the Chelsea v Bournemouth match on Saturday afternoon are encouraged to take the Piccadilly line to Earl's Court, which is a 27-minute walk from the stadium. The match kicks off at 3pm.

Alternative routes include the Mildmay Line to or from West Brompton or Imperial Wharf, which connects to national rail services to the south at Clapham Junction or to Central line services to the north at Shepherd's Bush. Chelsea are currently 10th in the table, while Bournemouth are 17th.

Multiple Tube Closures This Weekend

Several tube lines will be closed over the weekend, and passengers are advised to plan ahead. A full list of closures is available online. Fans are urged to check travel updates before setting off to avoid delays.
