London Tube and TfL closures this weekend: eight lines affected

Transport for London (TfL) has warned of planned disruption on eight lines across Saturday and Sunday, with Chelsea fans heading to Stamford Bridge facing particular challenges due to track work on the District line. Trains will not stop at Fulham Broadway, the closest station to the stadium, as crews work on the Wimbledon branch on both days.

District line disruption and alternative routes for Chelsea fans

The closure will also affect passengers travelling between Edgware Road/Tower Hill and Ealing Broadway, Kensington (Olympia), and Richmond. Supporters attending the Chelsea v Bournemouth match on Saturday afternoon are advised to use the Piccadilly line to Earl's Court, which is a 27-minute walk from the stadium. Alternatively, Mildmay line services to or from West Brompton or Imperial Wharf connect to national rail services to the south at Clapham Junction or Central line services at Shepherd's Bush to the north.

Elsewhere, the entire Weaver line will start later than usual on Sunday due to Network Rail maintenance, and Elizabeth line services in Hillingdon are also impacted for the same reason.

Arsenal station closure and travel advice

Arsenal Tube station remains closed amid concerns that the ground beneath it is sinking, according to MyLondon. The Piccadilly line stop is expected to stay closed over the weekend, affecting football fans travelling to Emirates Stadium for the home team's clash against Leeds on Saturday afternoon. Crowds are advised to use Highbury and Islington, Finsbury Park, or Holloway Road stations, all within walking distance of the ground.

TfL issued a closure alert on Wednesday (October 7), citing infrastructure damage within Arsenal station. Richard Jones, director of asset performance delivery for London Underground, said: “Arsenal Tube station is currently closed so that we can repair infrastructure damage within the station. Our teams are working around the clock to repair the damage as quickly as possible, and we will share more information on the reopening and operation of the station as soon as we can.”
