Woman dies in A10 layby crash, Porsche driver arrested

A woman in her sixties has died after being hit by a car while standing in a layby near the North London border in Hertfordshire.

Details of the fatal collision

Police were called to the A10 between Hertford and Broxbourne at 8.50am on Monday, January 5. The incident involved three vehicles: a grey Porsche Cayenne, a stationary red Fiat 500, and a stationary white Volvo Tipper lorry.

The woman, who was the driver of the Fiat 500, was outside her vehicle in the layby when she was struck. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Driver arrested and investigation launched

The driver of the Porsche Cayenne, a man also in his 60s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the probe. Detective Constable Lewis Stanley stated: "My thoughts are with the woman’s loved ones at this difficult time. They are being supported by specially trained officers."

Police appeal for witnesses and footage

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles involved to come forward. DC Stanley emphasised the importance of dashcam evidence, saying: "I would like to ask that anybody who was driving in the area around that time with a dashcam to please get in touch. Your footage could be important to our enquiries."
