A devastated mother has described her teenage son, who was among four people killed in a tragic car crash in Bolton earlier this month, as "my heart, my soul, my everything". Mohammad Danyaal Asghar-Ali, aged 19, lost his life in a head-on collision that has left families shattered and a community in mourning.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 11 January, on Wigan Road in Bolton. It involved a red Seat Leon, in which Mohammad Danyaal Asghar-Ali was a passenger, and a Citroen C4 Picasso taxi. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the identities of all four victims.
In the Seat Leon, the driver was Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, 18, and another passenger was Farhan Patel, also 18. The driver of the taxi was Masrob Ali, aged 54. The collision resulted in immediate fatalities for these individuals, sending shockwaves through the local area.
Family Tributes and Emotional Outpouring
In a heartfelt tribute released by the police, Mohammad Danyaal Asghar-Ali's mother expressed her profound grief. She said, "He was the one who taught me how to be a mother, my firstborn, my baby. Such a good boy, he gave love and respect to everyone and never failed to put a smile on anyone's face."
She added, "He was his dad's best friend, and this tragedy has left his dad broken. I keep having to remind myself that I will never see his smile, never hear his laugh, never get to hug him ever again."
Siblings Remember a Beloved Brother
Mohammad Danyaal Asghar-Ali's sister shared her struggle, stating that coming to terms with his death is "incredibly tough". She recalled, "Memories of our shared moments, the laughter, and his silly jokes feel so vivid, like it was just yesterday. He wasn't just my brother; he was my best friend."
She highlighted his charismatic nature, saying, "He had this incredible gift for making any room brighter the moment he walked in. His smile alone could change the atmosphere. He was always the best big brother, a constant presence through everything, never leaving my side when I felt alone."
Another sister echoed these sentiments, noting that he "left a positive mark wherever he went", and that "even the dullest room would feel brighter when he walked in". She fondly remembered, "He was always joking and laughing, and somehow his laugh was funnier than the joke itself. His smile was my favourite."
His brother described him as "the funniest person" and an inspiration, underscoring the deep bond within the family.
Injuries and Ongoing Investigation
In addition to the four fatalities, five passengers from both vehicles sustained injuries and remain hospitalised. In the Citroen taxi, a 29-year-old woman suffered potentially life-threatening injuries, while a 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man sustained serious injuries. A 29-year-old man in the same vehicle suffered minor injuries.
An 18-year-old man, who was also a passenger in the Seat Leon, suffered minor injuries. The incident has prompted an ongoing investigation by Greater Manchester Police, with authorities likely examining factors such as road conditions and vehicle safety to determine the cause of the crash.
