Major M25 Collision Sparks Evening Travel Chaos
Drivers on the M25 encountered severe disruption this evening following a significant collision on the clockwise carriageway. The incident, which occurred between junction 29 for Upminster and junction 30 for Aveley in Essex, led to extensive tailbacks and long delays for commuters and other road users.
Severe Delays and Lane Closures
The crash, first reported by traffic monitoring company Inrix at around 4.30pm on 28 November 2025, resulted in the closure of two lanes. This caused traffic to build up rapidly, with 11 miles of tailbacks reported along the busy orbital motorway. Authorities from National Highways confirmed that drivers were facing estimated delays of 90 minutes as a direct consequence of the incident.
Ongoing Recovery and Clearance
The scene of the collision caused major congestion throughout the evening rush hour. National Highways indicated that the recovery operation was complex and that the scene was unlikely to be fully cleared before 7.30pm. This extended timeline meant that disruption continued well into the night, affecting countless journeys around the Essex section of the motorway.
Motorists were strongly advised to allow for significant extra travel time or to seek alternative routes if possible while emergency services and traffic officers worked at the scene.
