Weekend Travel Disruption in London: June 27-28 2026

Londoners and visitors face significant travel disruptions this weekend as several Tube and train services undergo planned closures. The Piccadilly and District lines, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), and multiple Overground routes will be affected on Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28. Temperatures are expected to drop to a more manageable 26-32°C after a heatwave, making it easier to navigate the city despite the closures.

Piccadilly Line Closures

On Saturday June 27, from 4:30am, and all day Sunday June 28, there will be no trains between King’s Cross St Pancras and Northfields or Uxbridge. Additionally, early Saturday morning (2am to 4:30am), services between King’s Cross St Pancras and Heathrow are suspended, affecting the Night Tube. According to Transport for London (TfL), passengers should use alternative routes or replacement buses.

District Line and DLR Disruptions

The District line will have no trains between Turnham Green and Ealing Broadway on both Saturday and Sunday. The DLR will also be disrupted, with no service between Prince Regent and Beckton over the entire weekend. TfL advises travelers to check before they travel and allow extra time for journeys.

The Suffragette line will have no service between Barking and Barking Riverside after 9:45am. The Windrush line will be suspended between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction or Battersea Park all day, and after 10:15pm between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction.

Waterloo and City Line

The Waterloo and City line remains closed on weekends and bank holidays, though TfL has not confirmed how much longer this will continue. Passengers are advised to use alternative Tube or rail services.

Major Events Affected

This weekend features major concerts, including Harry Styles and Take That, as well as World Cup matches. Attendees are urged to plan their journeys carefully, consider using bus services or cycling, and allow extra travel time. For real-time updates, TfL recommends using its official app or website.
