London Overground Timetable Revamp: Check Before You Travel from Dec 14
London Overground Changes: New Timetable from Dec 14

Commuters using the London Overground's Weaver line are being advised to verify their journey details ahead of significant timetable alterations set to take effect next month. The changes, designed to alleviate overcrowding and enhance service reliability, will be implemented from Sunday, 14 December.

A spokesperson for Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that while the total number of trains serving each destination will stay the same, every single departure time is being revised. This means the regular travel patterns for thousands of passengers could be disrupted.

Key Changes and Peak Time Adjustments

The core objective of the new schedule is to better manage passenger flow, specifically targeting the busy stretches to and from Enfield Town and Cheshunt during the morning and evening rush hours. The focus is on Seven Sisters station, the route's busiest interchange.

David Thomas, TfL's Head of Concession for London Overground, stated: "We're making these changes to help customers travel more comfortably through one of the busiest parts of the network. By better matching capacity and demand at Seven Sisters, we can minimise crowding and improve reliability across the line."

The specific adjustments for Seven Sisters station are as follows:

Morning Peak:

  • Northbound: trains approximately every 6, 9, and 15 minutes
  • Southbound: trains approximately every 8, 10, and 12 minutes

Evening Peak:

  • Northbound: trains approximately every 7, 10, and 13 minutes
  • Southbound: trains approximately every 7, 9, and 14 minutes

Branch Line Updates and Additional Services

Further details reveal how the changes will affect the individual branches of the Weaver line. On the Enfield Town branch, southbound trains during the morning peak will run every 12 to 18 minutes, with northbound services every 10 to 20 minutes.

For the Cheshunt branch, trains will operate approximately every 30 minutes under the new regime. In a welcome move for night owls, an additional last train will run from Enfield Town to Liverpool Street on Mondays to Thursdays, departing at 00:16.

The first trains on the Chingford and Cheshunt routes will also depart slightly earlier, though the final services of the night will remain at their current times.

Passenger Advice and Information

TfL is strongly encouraging all passengers to check the new timetable before travelling on or after 14 December to avoid any inconvenience. The full revised schedules will be made available in early December through multiple channels.

Commuters can find the updated information online at TfL.gov.uk, via the TfL Go app, or on posters and leaflets at London Overground stations.

This proactive approach aims to ensure a smooth transition for the thousands who rely on this vital part of London's transport network every day.
