Amir Khan has given his final prediction for the heavyweight clash between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois, backing Dubois to emerge victorious and become a two-time world champion. The fight takes place tonight in Manchester, with Dubois defending his newly-won WBO title against the unbeaten Wardley.
Dubois' Path to Redemption
Dubois first captured the IBF heavyweight title with a stunning knockout victory over Anthony Joshua in 2024. However, he lost the belt to Oleksandr Usyk last summer, as the Ukrainian became undisputed champion for the second time. Since then, Dubois has worked his way back, and now faces Wardley in a compelling domestic showdown.
Wardley has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks. He defeated domestic rivals David Adeleye and Frazer Clarke before making a massive statement on the world stage by stopping Joseph Parker last October. Parker was considered one of the top heavyweights outside of Usyk, but Wardley's power proved too much.
Khan's Verdict
Former world champion Amir Khan is a big admirer of Dubois' aggressive style, which has produced a 95% knockout ratio. Speaking to Metro via Betway, Khan said: 'Dubois is one of my guys. I like the way he fights. He goes head-to-head, doesn't care. When he fights, he goes for the full knockout. Look at what he did to AJ – he went into beast mode and knocked out an Olympic champion who unified the division twice.'
Khan dismissed predictions from friends who favor Wardley, stating: 'I disagree because Dubois has a bit of a chin on him. I don't see him freezing on the big stage. He fought and beat AJ at Wembley in front of 90,000, and did the same against Usyk. He lost to Usyk, but that's no shame – Usyk is the greatest fighter of an era.'
Khan acknowledged Wardley's power: 'Fabio Wardley has huge knockout power. He has serious power and great wins, including against Joseph Parker. But I back Dubois to get the job done.'
The fight promises to be an explosive encounter between two powerful heavyweights, with Dubois seeking to reclaim his status as a world champion and Wardley aiming to continue his remarkable ascent.
