Plea Agreement Reached
Clenney's attorney, Sabrina Puglisi, confirmed to Court TV on Friday afternoon that an agreement had been reached with prosecutors to resolve the charges without a trial, pending a judge's approval. Puglisi stated, 'We will reserve further comment on the specific terms until they are placed on the record before the court.' An attorney representing Obumseli's family also confirmed the deal but said commenting further would be 'premature and irresponsible.'
The plea deal comes after years of legal proceedings. Clenney has remained in jail in Miami without bond for the past four years. She is expected to be sentenced immediately after entering her guilty plea later this month.

On April 3, 2022, Clenney called 911 herself after an incident at their luxury apartment in Miami, Florida. First responders found Obumseli, 27, with a three-inch deep stab wound to the shoulder, and Clenney covered in his blood. Obumseli was taken to the hospital but died shortly after. Police determined that the death followed a domestic dispute, with a Miami PD spokesperson confirming there had been a 'physical altercation.'
Clenney has not denied responsibility for the fatal injuries but has claimed she threw the knife at Obumseli from approximately 10 feet away in self-defence after he shoved her to the ground and tried to strangle her. She also allegedly threatened to kill herself, leading police to evaluate the threat and implement the Baker Act, which allows law enforcement and medical professionals to commit a person to mental health treatment for up to 72 hours.

Obumseli's family has denied Clenney's defence's accusations that he was the violent one in the relationship, insisting it was actually her. A GoFundMe campaign was established for them after his death and raised over $60,000. The page's bio said he died just one week before his 28th birthday, adding, 'Christian was extremely compassionate with a desire always to uplift those around him. He did not deserve for his life to be cut short by a heinous act of violence.'
