Tragic Death of Schoolgirl Sparks Police Investigation
The mother of an 11-year-old schoolgirl, believed to be Scotland's youngest drug-related death victim, has spoken of her devastation after her daughter passed away in hospital. Olivia Curley fell ill on Friday, November 14th, with her condition deteriorating over the weekend until an ambulance was called on Sunday.
Olivia was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and placed in intensive care, but tragically died on Monday, November 17th. The young girl was a pupil at Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh, and her death is now being treated as unexplained by authorities.
Mother's Heartbreaking Social Media Posts
Samantha Curley, Olivia's mother, shared her grief on social media, writing: 'I honestly have no words. I am numb.' In an emotional tribute to her daughter, she described how her 'beautiful girl gained her angel wings today with everyone that loved her round her'.
The grieving mother's posts revealed her growing concern over the weekend as Olivia's condition worsened. On Saturday, she told friends that her daughter 'can't even hold water down'. After calling the ambulance, Samantha expressed her helplessness, saying: 'My poor girl is ill, horrible when there is nothing I can do to help, wee soul.'
Vow for Justice and Police Investigation
In her final message to her daughter, Samantha made a powerful promise: 'Justice will be done. I will make sure about that.' She also issued a stark warning to those potentially involved, stating they had her 'daughter's blood on your hands' and that 'KARMA is a b***h'.
Police Scotland confirmed they received a report around 11.40am on Monday, November 17th, about an 11-year-old girl taken unwell in the Helensburgh area. A force spokesperson stated: 'The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.'
Samantha also vowed to protect Olivia's younger sister, promising her daughter: 'We will look after your little sister.' The family now faces the devastating task of coming to terms with their loss while police work to determine exactly how Olivia came into contact with substances that may have caused her death.
