Miraculous Rescue in Bangkok Office
A newborn baby girl was dramatically rescued after being found abandoned inside a toilet cistern in a Bangkok office building. The harrowing discovery was made by a cleaner on November 15, who heard the infant's cries coming from the third-floor bathroom.
The Harrowing Discovery
The housekeeper was performing her duties when she lifted the toilet lid and made the shocking find. The baby girl was stuffed inside the cistern, which was half-filled with water. Authorities believe she had been placed there shortly after birth.
Police Captain Kritsada Saikhong confirmed the infant was under a day old when discovered. The unclothed newborn had been soaking in the water, causing her hands to become pale and wrinkled. Despite her ordeal, medical professionals later confirmed she was unharmed.
Police Investigation and Legal Consequences
Officers from the Lat Krabang district rushed to the scene around 11 am local time after receiving the emergency report. The baby was immediately transported to Sirindhorn Hospital for examination.
Doctors determined the infant weighed six pounds and had miraculously survived without injury. Police Captain Saikhong stated: "We will proceed with the investigation to find who left the baby girl in the toilet. Officers are checking CCTV cameras to establish who was in the building and who used the bathroom."
The parents face potential prosecution under Thai Penal Code Section 306 for abandonment. This offence carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison, a fine of up to £140 GBP, or both.
This incident echoes a similar case from 2013 in eastern China, where a newborn boy was flushed down a toilet. That child, known as Baby No. 59, also survived with minimal injuries.
