Oura Ring 5: 40% smaller, tracks 50+ health metrics

Oura has launched the Oura Ring 5, the world's smallest smart ring, which is up to 40% smaller than the Oura 4. Priced at £399, it tracks over 50 health metrics including sleep, stress, heart rate, activity, and recovery. The ring measures just 2.28mm thick and 6.09mm wide, with a titanium design that feels like jewellery.

Key features and improvements

The Oura Ring 5 features a redesigned sensing system with more powerful LEDs for accurate readings of overnight heart rate and workouts. It offers six to nine days of battery life on a single charge, thanks to a reworked battery design. The ring is also more durable and scratch-resistant, with new finishes including an updated gold and deep rose option.

According to Holly Shelton, chief product officer at Oura, 'The Ring 5 is the most capable wearable we've ever made. It's small enough to fit seamlessly into everyday life and significant enough to set a new standard.'

Health tracking capabilities

The Oura Ring 5 tracks sleep stages, heart rate, temperature trends, and daily readiness scores. It includes Live Activity Tracking for real-time metrics like walking pace and distance. When paired with a third-party heart rate monitor, users can view live heart rate during workouts. The app provides personalised health insights and integrates with over 100 apps.

New software features include GLP-1 weight loss jab tracking and a 'health radar' that alerts users to changes in blood pressure or sleep breathing. A privacy feature called Time-based Data Deletion lets users control data storage while retaining long-term trends.

Pricing and subscription

The Oura Ring 5 costs £399, with a required monthly subscription of £5.99. The ring is waterproof and designed for all-day and night wear. It is available in multiple finishes and sizes.
