Oru Sutton has confirmed that its new rooftop spa, complete with a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and cold plunges, will open in autumn 2026. The wellness space, located at the Oru venue on Throwley Way, will be the only rooftop spa in Sutton, according to the company.
Facilities and Offerings at the New Spa
The spa will feature a sauna designed for relaxation and recovery, a steam room intended as a quiet retreat, and a rooftop hot tub offering views across Sutton. Visitors will also have access to cold plunges, with Oru promoting the contrast between hot and cold facilities as a key part of the experience. Treatment rooms will be staffed by therapists from Oru's Wellbeing Quarter, with a full treatment brochure expected to be released closer to opening.
In addition to the spa, the rooftop will include an outdoor relaxation and events area, as well as a lounge and events space with panoramic views. This expansion builds on Oru's existing offerings at the Sutton site, which opened in September 2023 at 7 Throwley Way on Sutton High Street.
Background and Growth of Oru Sutton
The venue, located in a former British Home Stores department store, was Oru's second location following its first site in East Dulwich. Oru combines coworking with wellbeing, fitness, and hospitality facilities. Co-founder and CEO Vibushan Thirukumar told Your Local Guardian that approximately half of the building is dedicated to private coworking, while the rest is open to the public.
Thirukumar explained: "50 per cent of the building is private in the co-working section where you need membership to access. Everywhere else is public, and that public bit consists of retail units which have a range of things. It has a 150-seat restaurant, two yoga and fitness studios, 15 treatment rooms, and a community garden." The rooftop spa has been in development for some time, with plans first revealed by Thirukumar in early 2025.
Local Economic Impact and Community Vision
Co-founder and director Paul Hepworth Nelmes told Your Local Guardian in March 2025 that the goal is to reduce the need for residents to travel to Central London for work and leisure. "We're really keen on not everyone needing to go to Central London for principally work, but lots of other things. And how do we boost the local economy in Sutton? By having the Oru Space bang in the middle of the High Street. So, if we grow and make the High Street busier, then all of the small local businesses around here will hopefully get stronger," he said.
The new rooftop spa is scheduled to open in autumn 2026, adding a significant wellness destination to Sutton's High Street and potentially drawing more visitors to the area.
