Motorcyclist dies after A13 crash, driver arrested

A motorcyclist has died following a collision on the A13 in East Ham, with his family receiving specialist support. The crash occurred at approximately 5:40pm on Tuesday, July 7, between a car and the motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, on Newham Way at the junction of Woolwich Manor Way.

Emergency response and hospital death

The London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended the scene. The motorcyclist was taken to hospital but died later that evening. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Driver arrested

The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, was not injured and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at the time of writing.

Police appeal for witnesses

Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite, from the Met's Road and Transport Policing command, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of victim at this extremely difficult time. As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any relevant information, particularly anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.”
