Paddle Power: An Active Break at Montenegro's Siro Boka Place

After three days at Siro Boka Place in Montenegro, I felt like an Olympic athlete. This hotel, designed for fitness and wellbeing, offers state-of-the-art facilities and a stunning location on the Bay of Kotor, making it the perfect base for an active holiday.

A Unique Wellness Experience

During my stay, I tried compression boot therapy, which slowly inflates from the toes to the upper thighs, boosting circulation and reducing swelling. The hotel's wellness facilities are so impressive that the Montenegrin Olympic team is training here ahead of Los Angeles 2028.

Exploring the Bay of Kotor

I embarked on a morning ebike tour around the bay, cycling from designer shops to charming fishing villages, past the islet Our Lady of the Rocks, and up a switchback mountain road. Another day, I hiked the Vrmac mountain trails to the half-abandoned village of Gornja Lastva and the tiny St Vid church, with panoramic views perfect for a picnic. In the afternoon, I kayaked the calm waters of the bay, with the option to paddle to the Blue Cave.

Fitness and Recovery Facilities

The hotel offers group classes like yoga, pilates, and mindful strength, plus high-intensity options such as run club and Hyrox. The fitness lab spans 1,600 sq m with cardio, weights, and functional training zones. The spa features red light therapy, body composition analysis, and a variety of massages. The outdoor 25-metre pool on the third floor overlooks the marina.

Healthy Dining and Guest Rooms

The restaurant Siro Table serves healthy dishes, including vegetable-based options with protein add-ons to achieve desired macros, while still offering chips, desserts, and wine. Guest rooms are equipped with Swedish ladders, wellness balls, weights, resistance bands, and yoga mats, plus meditation playlists and sunrise alarm clocks for restful sleep.

After three days, I felt like an Olympic athlete. Now I just need to maintain the routine at home.
