The People's Picture, designed by renowned public artist Helen Marshall, serves as a visual symbol for the Guardian's upcoming environment forum in 2026. This event, titled 'The Guardian's Environment Forum 2026', promises a hopeful and solutions-focused evening dedicated to fighting for the planet and our shared future.
Event Details
The forum will take place on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM (BST). Attendees can join in person at the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London, SW7 2AR, or via livestream. Tickets are priced at £35 for in-person attendance and £15 for online access.
Focus on Practical Action
While governments continue to invest in fossil fuels and delay emission-reducing policies, individual actions can feel insufficient. However, this event aims to highlight impactful measures everyone can take. Based on a survey of Guardian readers, the forum will concentrate on practical solutions and ideas that merit deeper exploration.
Through expert-led conversations with activists, climate groups, and environmental organizations, attendees will learn how to start a group, launch listening campaigns, participate in local schemes, and engage with established activist networks. The event will also cover the current global environmental landscape and areas requiring urgent support.
Panel of Experts
The event will be chaired by Damian Carrington, the Guardian's environment editor. Panelists include:
- Gareth Thomas, Chief Executive of the National Biodiversity Network
- Asad Rehman, Chief Executive of Friends of the Earth
- Katie White MP, Labour MP for Leeds North West and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Department for Energy Security and Net Zero)
Additionally, Andy Haines, Professor of Environmental Change and Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Chief Scientific Advisor of the pan-European Commission on Climate and Health, will deliver a keynote on recommendations for climate and health.
