Oasis fan's Wembley fall death a 'tragic accident'

The death of an Oasis fan who fell from a height during the band's reunion show at Wembley Stadium has been officially described as a 'tragic accident' by Metropolitan Police.

Police Investigation Concludes

At a pre-inquest hearing at Barnet Coroner's Court, Detective Sergeant James Raffin confirmed the police investigation into the death of Lee Claydon is now complete. The 45-year-old, from Bournemouth, Dorset, died following the incident at the iconic London venue on August 2.

DS Raffin stated clearly: "From a police point of view, this is no longer a criminal prosecution. We do not suspect any third-party involvement. From everything we have seen, this was a tragic accident."

Toxicology and Circumstances

The court heard that toxicology reports raised no specific concerns. While Mr Claydon had consumed alcohol on the night, this was described as 'expected' for concert-goers. Authorities have also confirmed that the possibility of suicide has been ruled out.

Following the fall, the Oasis fan was taken to a medical centre within Wembley Stadium and was pronounced dead at 10.38pm on the night of the concert. A post-mortem examination conducted on August 6 gave the preliminary cause of death as 'multiple bodily injuries'.

Oasis Response and Ongoing Review

The tragic incident occurred during Oasis's sell-out Live '25 reunion tour, marking their first concerts since splitting in 2009. In the aftermath, the band released a statement expressing their shock and sadness, extending 'sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.'

Senior Coroner Andrew Walker confirmed that a full inquest is scheduled for February 26 next year. This will incorporate reports from the London Borough of Brent regarding the circumstances, alongside the completed police investigation.

As a result of this tragedy, Wembley Stadium, one of London's most famous music and sporting venues, continues to review its safety protocols in an effort to prevent similar incidents in the future.
