Jane's Addiction Frontman Apologises Again After On-Stage Punch Forced Split
Jane's Addiction singer sorry for on-stage punch that split band

Perry Farrell, the frontman of the iconic alternative rock band Jane's Addiction, has issued a heartfelt second apology to fans, more than a year after a shocking on-stage punch-up with guitarist Dave Navarro forced the group to cancel their comeback tour and ultimately split.

The On-Stage Altercation That Ended a Comeback

The incident that shattered the band's reunion occurred in September 2024 during a performance in Boston. Farrell, now 66, was captured on camera in a fiery confrontation with Navarro, culminating in the singer throwing a punch at the guitarist before being hauled off stage. The group, famous for hits like 'Jane Says' and 'Mountain Song', immediately cancelled the remainder of their tour, initially citing Farrell's 'mental health difficulties'.

A Year of Reflection and Legal Wrangling

In a new statement addressed 'to everyone in Boston, and around the world', Farrell expressed deep regret. 'I've reflected on it and know I didn't handle myself the way I should have,' he said. 'I apologise to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.' He emphasised that the band had been the 'centre' of his life 'for decades'.

This personal apology was swiftly followed by a separate release from the remaining members—Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins. They expressed regret for making 'inaccurate statements' about Farrell's health after they 'unilaterally determined' to cancel the tour without informing him first.

The fallout from the altercation escalated into serious legal action. Earlier in 2025, Rolling Stone reported that Navarro and the band were set to sue Farrell for $10,000,000 (approximately £7.47 million) for assault and the cancelled tour. Farrell countersued, alleging a 'years-long bullying campaign' by his bandmates, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Resolution Without Reunion

Despite the public spat and legal threats, the band members have now resolved their differences. However, they have confirmed they will not be performing together again in the foreseeable future, choosing instead to focus on 'separate creative endeavours'.

'Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we created together,' the band's statement concluded, drawing a line under an era defined by both groundbreaking music and tumultuous relationships.
