Brighton & Hove Pride is set to return this weekend, celebrating its 35th anniversary with a dazzling array of events. The festival, known for its vibrant displays of rainbow colors and glitter, will feature 21st-century pop phenomenon Raye and 20th-century legend Diana Ross as headliners for Pride on the Park on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, respectively.
Pride Parade Details
The famous Pride Parade will take place along Brighton promenade on Saturday, August 1, and is free for spectators. The parade begins at Hove Lawns near the West Pier at 11am, moving along King's Road, up West Street to the clock tower, and turning onto North Street. It winds around Royal Pavilion before marching up London Road, finishing at its junction with Preston Road, Victoria Street, and Old Shoreham Road.
Pride on the Park Tickets and Line-up
General admission tickets for Pride on the Park on Saturday, August 1, are available from £62.88, while Sunday, August 2, tickets start at £60.60. Weekend tickets for Party in the Park are available from £132.60.
On Saturday, Raye will be supported by Jessie J, Self Esteem, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, with RuPaul himself DJing in a UK festival exclusive. Sunday's headliner Diana Ross will be supported by Five, Holly Johnson of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Spice Girl Melanie C.
History of Brighton Pride
Brighton’s first Gay Pride took place in 1973, organized by the Sussex Gay Liberation Front, formed in 1971 by students and local LGBTQ+ activists. After a hiatus, Pride returned in 1991 as a community-led political protest against the Thatcher government's Section 28 policy, which forbade local councils and schools from promoting homosexuality.
Pride Street Party
The Brighton Pride Street Party will be staged on Marine Parade on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, with multiple stages, music zones, bars, and food. Tickets are available from £36.06 for single days, with weekend tickets at £37.20. The street party will be hosted by Sally Vate, Billie Gold, and Pixie Polite, with headliners including Gok Wan and Bimini (DJ set), and supporting acts such as Baga Chipz and Bailey J Mills.
Official After Parties
Several official after-parties will take place, including Concorde 2 Official Afterparty starting at 10pm on Saturday, August 1, featuring I. Jordan and Mae Muller. Horse Meat Disco at Patterns and Gaydio Afterparty at OHSO Social will also host events. Revenge & R-Bar will host multi-night celebrations from Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 3.
