Harry Styles Curates Meltdown Music Festival in London

Harry Styles Takes the Helm as Curator for London's Prestigious Meltdown Festival

In a major announcement for London's cultural calendar, global music superstar Harry Styles has been confirmed as the curator for the Meltdown music festival this summer. The festival will take place at the iconic Southbank Centre from June 11 to June 21, 2026, marking a significant addition to Styles' already busy London schedule, which includes a 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium.

A Festival Celebrating Diverse Musical Influences

Styles, who recently discussed his quieter life in Rome with The Times, will bring his eclectic tastes to the festival's programming. He plans to draw from a wide range of influences, including pop, soul, electronic, and rock music. The lineup will specifically highlight underground scenes and emerging young British talent, reflecting what Styles describes as "the interests of the curator." Additionally, Styles himself will perform a concert as part of the festival.

"My goal as the curator is to share the music and art that I love, and to celebrate the rich history of the venue," Styles stated. "We both share a passionate belief that music is a vital part of life. It brings us together and the Southbank Centre has been at the heart of it, providing easy access to great music for the past 75 years."

Expanding Access with Free Public Events

Beyond the ticketed performances, the Meltdown festival will feature a public programme of interactive, participatory, and free events. This initiative aims to make the festival more accessible to a broader audience, aligning with the Southbank Centre's mission of cultural inclusivity.

Mark Ball, Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre, commented, "Throughout our 75-year history, the Southbank Centre has existed to give our greatest artists a platform to take creative risks and present work that pushes contemporary culture into new and unexpected directions. Harry Styles' Meltdown feels like a natural expression of this ethos."

A Legacy of Artist-Curated Excellence

The Meltdown festival, first held in 1993, is recognized as the longest-running artist-curated music festival in the world. It has a storied history of curators, including notable figures such as Little Simz, Chaka Khan, Grace Jones, David Byrne, Yoko Ono, Nile Rodgers, David Bowie, and Patti Smith. Styles joins this prestigious list, bringing his unique vision to the event.

Styles' Musical Journey and Upcoming Album

This festival curation comes amid a prolific period for Styles. His new album, "Kiss All the Time: Disco, Occasionally," is set for release on March 6, 2026. This follows his successful solo career, which includes the Grammy Award-winning Album of the Year, "Harry's House" in 2023, as well as earlier albums "Harry Styles" (2017) and "Fine Line" (2019). Styles first rose to fame in 2010 as a member of the boy band One Direction on the reality TV show The X Factor, with the group releasing five albums between 2011 and 2015.

Further details on the specific artists performing at the Meltdown festival will be announced later in the spring, building anticipation for what promises to be a highlight of London's summer music scene.
