London to Host Groundbreaking Immersive David Bowie Exhibition
A spectacular new immersive experience dedicated to the legendary musician David Bowie is set to arrive in London this spring. Titled David Bowie: You're Not Alone, this specially created film will premiere at the Lightroom in King's Cross from April 22, 2026, marking a significant addition to the city's cultural calendar.
A Decade of Enduring Legacy
Despite his passing a decade ago, David Bowie's presence in London remains profoundly felt. Recent years have seen the opening of the V&A's David Bowie Centre, plans to transform his childhood home in Bromley into a museum, and the culmination of a posthumous archive release campaign. This new immersive show continues this trend, celebrating Bowie's enduring impact on art and music.
The Lightroom's Immersive Expertise
The Lightroom has established itself as a premier venue for immersive films, utilising ultra high-powered projectors to display content across its floors and walls. Previous productions have featured the work of David Hockney, Vogue magazine, and themes such as the Apollo landings in The Moonwalkers and dinosaurs in Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs. Bowie's unique blend of style, theatre, and musical genius makes him an ideal subject for this innovative format.
An Intimate Multimedia Spectacle
David Bowie: You're Not Alone promises to be both a grand spectacle and a personal journey. Directed by Mark Grimmer, who led the design of the V&A's David Bowie Is exhibition and directed David Hockney: Bigger & Closer, the film will delve into the Bowie Archive in New York. It features no narration other than Bowie's own voice, aiming to bring audiences closer to the artist while showcasing some of his greatest live performances.
Grimmer explains the vision behind the show: "It says something about our relationship with artistic heroes that we're drawn to mystery, otherness, the alien... In Bowie's case, this is our construct, not his. Throughout his career, Bowie repeatedly resisted being figured as anything but human. Rather than undermining his mystique, we designed a show to celebrate Bowie as a champion of human creativity - focusing on the message he expressed time and again: that art, in all its forms, is our best hope for understanding what it means to be alive."
Show Details and Ticketing
The immersive experience will play on a loop and is divided into themed sections exploring theatricality, spirituality, songwriting, and the transformative power of creativity. Tickets are now on sale, priced at £25 for adults and £15 for concessions, offering an accessible way for fans and newcomers alike to engage with Bowie's legacy.
This event underscores London's status as a hub for innovative cultural experiences, blending technology with artistry to honour one of music's most iconic figures.
