Capcom has surprised fans with the announcement of a dedicated Resident Evil showcase, scheduled for this week, just over a month before the launch of the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem.
When and How to Watch the Resident Evil Showcase
The event is set for Thursday, January 15 at 10pm GMT. Viewers can tune in via the official Resident Evil YouTube channel. Capcom has indicated the broadcast will be a concise one, with a runtime of only 12 minutes, suggesting a focused presentation rather than a lengthy deep dive.
What to Expect from the Resident Evil Requiem Update
With the game's release confirmed for February 27, 2026, and recent confirmation that fan-favourite Leon S. Kennedy is playable, the focus of the showcase remains intriguing. Preview impressions have been positive, highlighting the game's return to genuine scares.
Speculation suggests the event may offer a more detailed look at Leon's gameplay, which is rumoured to be more combat-oriented compared to the stealthier approach of the new protagonist, Grace. Previous rumours about Ada Wong being playable have been recently debunked by known insider Dusk Golem.
While an early open-world concept was scrapped in favour of a traditional single-player experience, trailers have hinted at expansive environments, including what appears to be a recreation of areas from Raccoon City. A PC performance trailer also showed Grace in an intact urban setting, suggesting multiple exterior locales beyond the iconic ruined city.
Could Other Resident Evil Games Appear?
The showcase's title and a disclaimer on Capcom's website hint at the possibility of more than one game being featured. The disclaimer notes 'Some of the games included in the show aren’t suitable for children,' using the plural 'games.'
This has fuelled speculation about long-rumoured remakes, such as Resident Evil Code: Veronica or Resident Evil 0. However, given the proximity to Requiem's launch, it is considered more likely that the showcase will highlight the already-confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 ports of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, set to release on the same day as Requiem, or perhaps a new mobile project.
Fans are advised to temper expectations for major new game announcements, but the showcase promises at least one final update before Resident Evil Requiem arrives next month.
