Gary Oldman Films Slow Horses in West London

Hollywood icon Gary Oldman has been photographed on location in West London, shooting new scenes for the acclaimed Apple TV series Slow Horses. The London-born actor was seen in character as the cynical MI5 agent Jackson Lamb outside a laundrette on Askew Road in Shepherd's Bush on Wednesday afternoon, February 18.

On-Set Details and Production

The veteran actor, aged 67, wore his character's signature distressed brown trench coat as he pretended to enter the vintage-looking shopfront, which is expected to serve as a covert meeting spot in the upcoming season. Oldman was later observed chatting with members of the production team while pedestrians watched the filming unfold.

A towering set of lights was erected on the busy shopping street to facilitate the shoot. This filming is likely for season seven of the series, which will follow the anticipated release of season six this autumn.

Previous Filming Locations and Series Success

Oldman and the crew were previously spotted working in front of Slough House, the shabby headquarters of Lamb's spy team, on Aldersgate Street in the City of London back in December. Other real-life sets used for the show include the Golden Lane Estate adjacent to the Barbican and Regent's Park.

First aired in April 2022, Slow Horses has become one of Apple TV's most popular exports, earning critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base that includes Prince William. The thriller, which co-stars Jack Lowden from The Gold and Kristin Scott Thomas from Fleabag, has also won several awards, including multiple Emmys.

Plot and Cast Highlights

The series follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who are relegated to an undesirable unit after making career-ending mistakes. Despite their setbacks, they frequently find themselves entangled in high-stakes conspiracies and dangerous investigations.

Jack Lowden, who plays River Cartwright, is no stranger to being photographed on set in London. The Islington resident, who recently welcomed his first child with Oscar-nominated wife Saoirse Ronan, was seen dressed as Mr. Darcy for the upcoming Pride and Prejudice Netflix series in Spitalfields last August.

Recent London Filming Activity

Videos posted online show the historic road in Spitalfields, featuring an early Georgian townhouse, filled with extras in Regency wear and a horse-drawn carriage. Additionally, Sandra Bullock has been in town recently, with production for Practical Magic 2 transforming a Worcester Park housing development into a New England-inspired seaside town.

The ongoing filming activity in London underscores the city's status as a premier destination for television and movie productions, attracting top talent and generating significant local interest.
