EastEnders Confirms Chrissie Watts Return with Dangerous Trap
Walford is set for explosive drama as Chrissie Watts' return to EastEnders is all but confirmed in forthcoming episodes. The BBC soap will see Zoe Slater team up with her ex Jake Moon to lay a dangerous trap for the notorious character, creating a tense storyline that promises to captivate viewers.
Christmas Revelations Set Stage for Revenge Plot
Chrissie Watts, played by Tracy-Ann Oberman, made an unexpected return to Albert Square over Christmas. It was revealed she had been working with Zoe's long-lost daughter Jasmine Fisher to torment Zoe as revenge for helping put Chrissie away for the murder of her husband Den Watts back in 2005.
Christmas Day also saw Zoe's ex and Jasmine's father Anthony Trueman found dead in the Queen Vic. Zoe's family became convinced Chrissie had killed him in an attempt to frame Zoe, who is now behind bars awaiting trial for Anthony's murder. However, the deadly secret remains that Jasmine was actually the one who killed her father.
Jake Moon's Unexpected Comeback
With the Slater-Moons determined to track Chrissie down to free Zoe from her prison nightmare, next week sees Zoe come face-to-face with Chrissie's ex Jake Moon, played by Joel Beckett. Fans last saw Jake back in 2024 when, upon Chrissie's release from jail for Den's murder, she rode off into the sunset with her former lover. However, when she reappeared at Christmas, it was revealed the couple had subsequently gone their separate ways.
Forthcoming scenes will show Jake explain to Zoe that he split with Chrissie over her revenge plan and begs for the truth about what happened at Christmas. He's shocked by Zoe's account and decides to walk away from Chrissie once and for all, but Zoe begs him for his help.
Family Alliances Form Dangerous Plan
When Jake refuses to help, Zoe's mum Kat Moon joins forces with Den's daughter Vicki Fowler to track him down. They successfully find Jake, and when he's reunited with his cousin-in-law Kat, he's convinced to come and see Alfie Moon.
It becomes an emotional moment as the cousins reunite after almost two decades, and Jake agrees to stay with him, Kat and their boys at The Vic for the night. When Jake later bumps into Kat's ex-husband Phil Mitchell, he's finally convinced to do right by Kat and Alfie and agrees to message Chrissie in an attempt to lure her back to Walford.
Behind the Scenes Teasers and Fan Speculation
EastEnders fans became convinced Chrissie was on her way back to the Square after actress Tracy-Ann Oberman shared a photo on Instagram with new cast member Ronni Ancona, who plays Bea Pollard. Meanwhile, Joel Beckett has teased fans about what to expect from his latest comeback.
'[Jake] returns carrying plenty of unanswered questions and the storyline takes him in some unexpected directions with real twists and turns. I'm excited for people to see what he's been up to,' Joel said.
EastEnders executive producer Ben Wadey added: 'I'm delighted to welcome Joel Beckett back to the role of Jake Moon and EastEnders for this storyline. Jake's return will be a shock for many, but the biggest shocks of all will surround Jake and what he discovers about Christmas...'
What to Expect Next in Walford
With the trap set, Jake and Kat nervously await to see if Chrissie will take the bait. The stage is set for dramatic confrontations and shocking revelations as old wounds are reopened and family loyalties are tested.
This complex web of relationships and secrets promises to deliver some of EastEnders' most compelling drama in recent years, with multiple characters facing difficult choices and dangerous consequences.
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 9th February at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
