Person dies on Tube tracks at Cannon Street station

Emergency services were called to Cannon Street station in the City at around 5pm on October 28 following reports of a casualty on the tracks. The injured person was declared dead at the scene, British Transport Police confirmed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, the force said in a statement issued this morning. The age and gender of the deceased have not been released.

Emergency response and line closures

Transport for London partially suspended the District, Circle, and Hammersmith and City lines while officers and paramedics dealt with the fatal incident. The District line was shut between Tower Hill and Earls Court, while the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines had no service between Edgware Road and Aldgate.

The lines reopened close to 7pm but residual severe delays continued. Southeastern and National Rail services also faced busy platforms and last-minute changes as crowds attempted to travel home amid the emergency response.
