The Prince Albert pub in Bexleyheath, which closed citing soaring costs, is set to reopen under new management. Incoming tenants Marc and Danielle have announced they are taking over the tenancy of the venue at 2 Broadway and hope to open the doors as soon as possible, though no official opening date has been confirmed.
The pair introduced themselves to residents in a post on the Prince Albert Bexleyheath Facebook page, describing themselves as a family team with years of experience in the pub and bar industry, including traditional pubs and cocktail bars.
Plans for entertainment and local talent
The new operators said they have many new plans for the Prince Albert, some of which will be shared on different platforms while others will be revealed in person. Among the proposed changes are entertainment nights featuring local musicians, DJs and karaoke.
Marc and Danielle are already appealing for local performers interested in taking part in events at the pub. They said: "We are looking for any local musical artist and DJs karaoke etc. for different nights."
Previous closure and financial pressures
The announcement follows the pub's earlier closure, which highlighted significant financial pressures. The previous operators announced in June that they were leaving after nearly seven years, citing rent increases, energy bills, staffing costs and National Insurance contributions.
They revealed that rent had doubled during their time at the pub, while energy bills had reached as much as £4,500 a month at one stage. The Prince Albert is one of Bexleyheath's historic pubs, with a local history publication dating the building to 1851.
Awaiting official reopening details
While the new tenants have confirmed their intention to take over the tenancy, they have not yet announced a reopening date or provided full details of the changes planned. The pub's official website still describes the venue as temporarily closed and advertises for new tenants.
Residents have been encouraged to visit the venue once it reopens, meet the new team and follow updates on the Prince Albert Bexleyheath Facebook page. The announcement concluded: "We are looking forward to meeting you all!"
