Dispersal Zone in Blackfen After Youth Anti-Social Behaviour

A dispersal zone has been implemented in the Oval area of Blackfen, Bexley, following a series of anti-social behaviour incidents involving groups of youths. The Section 35 order, authorised by Inspector Gareth Evans, took effect from 3pm on October 23 and will remain in place until 3pm on October 25.

Zone Boundaries and Duration

The dispersal zone covers all roads bounded by Blackfen Road, Days Lane, Oaklands Avenue, Collindale Avenue, Rowley Avenue and Harcourt Avenue. During this period, police officers are granted the authority to direct individuals to leave the area to prevent further disorder.

Recent Incidents and Impact

Recent incidents have included masonry and eggs being thrown at vehicles and businesses, causing damage and disruption. One business was forced to close early due to the behaviour, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Police Response and Justification

Inspector Evans stated: "This decision follows ongoing concerns regarding anti-social behaviour and low-level criminality involving groups of youths in the area." The dispersal zone is a targeted measure to address these concerns and restore order in the community.

The Metropolitan Police will continue to monitor the area over the weekend, and the order provides officers with the necessary powers to intervene and prevent further incidents.
