London Braces for Major Travel Disruption This Valentine's Weekend
London is set to experience a surge in activity this weekend, combining the romantic buzz of Valentine's Day on Saturday, February 14, 2026, with the start of half term holidays. While the capital will be bustling with couples and families, Transport for London (TfL) has announced a series of planned service cancellations and alterations that could impact travel plans. Key closures on the Central and District lines are among the disruptions to watch out for, making it essential for commuters and visitors to stay informed.
Central Line Closures
From 4:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, and throughout all of Sunday, February 15, including night tube services, there will be no service between White City and Ealing Broadway or West Ruislip. Additionally, from 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, trains will not run between Marble Arch and Ealing Broadway. These closures are part of ongoing maintenance work aimed at improving network reliability.
District Line Alterations
On Sunday, February 15, service will be suspended between Turnham Green and Richmond. Eastbound trains will skip Barons Court station until June 2026. Passengers traveling east are advised to go one stop west to Hammersmith and then return eastbound to continue their journey, ensuring minimal delays.
Overground Service Changes
The Lioness line (Overground) will have no trains between Kilburn High Road and Euston from 8:30 PM on Saturday, February 14, until 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 15, and again from 9:00 PM on Sunday, February 15. The Mildmay line (Overground) will see no service between Camden Road and Richmond or Shepherds Bush all day on Saturday and Sunday until 10:15 PM, with a special service operating between Stratford and Willesden Junction. After 10:15 PM on Sunday, service will be suspended between Richmond or Shepherds Bush and Stratford. The Suffragette line (Overground) will operate on a reduced service across the entire line throughout the weekend.
DLR and Elizabeth Line Disruptions
On Sunday, February 15, the DLR will have no trains between Shadwell and Tower Gateway, and Cutty Sark station will remain closed until spring 2026. The Elizabeth line will experience multiple closures: no service between Abbey Wood or Stratford and Ealing Broadway until 7:40 AM, no service between West Drayton and Maidenhead until 7:40 AM, and no service from Abbey Wood or Stratford to Paddington from 7:40 AM to 11:00 AM.
Additional Tube Line Updates
The Piccadilly line will also see eastbound trains skipping Barons Court until June 2026, with the same workaround via Hammersmith recommended. The Waterloo and City line, as usual, will be closed on weekends. Travelers are encouraged to check TfL's official channels for real-time updates and alternative routes to navigate the disruptions smoothly during this busy period.
