December 2025 TfL Closures: Full List of Tube, Overground & Elizabeth Line Disruptions
Full list of TfL closures for December 2025

Londoners and visitors are being urged to plan ahead as a significant programme of maintenance work will disrupt large parts of the Transport for London (TfL) network throughout December 2025. The majority of the engineering works are scheduled for weekends, but some extended weekday closures will also impact early morning and late-night travellers.

Major Tube Line Disruptions

The London Underground will see several key closures. On the weekend of Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December, there will be no service on the Metropolitan line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge. The Northern line will have no daytime service from Archway to High Barnet on the same dates, while the Piccadilly line will be suspended between Acton Town and Uxbridge.

Furthermore, a prolonged closure on the Piccadilly line will see no trains running between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge from Wednesday 24 December through to Sunday 4 January 2025. On Boxing Day, Friday 26 December, the Metropolitan line will also be shut between Rickmansworth and Amersham/Chesham.

Overground and National Rail Impacts

Passengers on the renamed London Overground lines face more than twenty separate disruptions this month. Key dates include Boxing Day, Friday 26 December, when the entire Liberty, Lioness, Suffragette, and Weaver lines will have no service.

Other notable Overground closures include:

  • Sunday 21 December: No Lioness line service from Euston to Kilburn High Road until 12pm and after 8:30pm. No Weaver line service from Liverpool Street to Enfield Town/Cheshunt/Chingford until 10:15am.
  • Saturday 27 December to Thursday 1 January: No service on the Mildmay line from Camden Road to Richmond/Shepherd's Bush.
  • Sunday 14 December: Windrush line suspended from Sydenham to West Croydon and from Wandsworth Road to Clapham Junction.

Elizabeth Line and DLR Alterations

The Elizabeth line will operate a reduced service on several dates. There will be no trains from Paddington to Ealing Broadway until 7:45am on Sunday 14 and Sunday 21 December. On Boxing Day, the entire Elizabeth line will be closed. Additionally, from Saturday 27 December to Thursday 1 January, there will be no service between Liverpool Street (National Rail platforms) and Stratford.

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will also see changes, with services between Tower Gateway and Shadwell suspended on Sunday 14 December, Sunday 21 December, and Friday 26 December.

TfL is strongly advising all passengers to check before they travel, especially during the busy festive period between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Using the TfL Journey Planner or the TfL Go app is recommended to find real-time alternative routes and ensure journeys go as smoothly as possible during this essential maintenance period.
