Croydon passengers are being warned of late-night Southern train disruption this week as engineering work affects services towards East Grinstead and Uckfield. Several trains will terminate early at Oxted instead of completing their journeys, while a late-night service from East Grinstead to London Victoria will be cancelled.
Replacement buses will run on affected routes, including between East Grinstead and East Croydon. The disruption is scheduled from Tuesday to Thursday (October 20 to 22), with engineering work in the Hurst Green area closing some lines overnight.
Engineering Work Affects Late-Night Services
The 10.07pm London Bridge to Uckfield train will terminate at Oxted, with replacement buses running from Oxted to Crowborough and Uckfield. The 10.33pm Uckfield to London Bridge service will start from Oxted instead, with replacement buses running from Uckfield to Crowborough and from Crowborough to East Croydon.
The 10.50pm London Victoria to East Grinstead train will terminate at Oxted, with replacement buses running between Oxted and East Grinstead. The 11.06pm East Grinstead to London Victoria service will not run, and a replacement bus will operate between East Grinstead and East Croydon instead.
Additional Train Terminations and Bus Replacements
The 11.07pm London Bridge to Uckfield train will also terminate at Oxted, with replacement buses running to Crowborough and Uckfield. The 11.20pm London Victoria to East Grinstead service will terminate at Oxted, with buses replacing trains between Oxted and East Grinstead.
Passengers are urged to check their journeys before setting off and allow extra time for replacement buses. The engineering work is part of ongoing maintenance in the Hurst Green area, which is causing overnight closures on these routes.
Advice for Affected Passengers
Travelers on the affected Southern services should plan ahead, as replacement buses may take longer than regular train services. The disruptions are limited to late-night hours, but those traveling during these times should expect delays and consider alternative routes if possible.
For the latest updates, passengers are advised to check Southern Railway's website or app before traveling. The engineering work is expected to conclude after Thursday, with normal services resuming on Friday, October 23.
