A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was found with life-threatening head injuries at Liverpool Street Underground station.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was discovered on the Central line platform of the station at 10.51pm on Sunday. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
On Monday, August 31, police detained the suspect in East London. The man is currently in custody, according to the British Transport Police (BTP).
Investigation progresses at pace
BTP Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn said: “This is a key step in our investigation, which continues to progress at pace. Based on our enquiries to date, we are not seeking to identify anyone else in connection with this incident.”
Blackburn added: “Our thoughts remain the victim and his family at this difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers.”
Police are appealing for witnesses who were on the Central line platforms between 10.30pm and 11pm on the night of the attack to come forward.

Blackburn said: “We are still keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police. If you were on the Central Line platforms between 10.30pm and 11pm and have information, please come forward.”
