A 33-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car on New Kent Road in Elephant and Castle, Southwark, during the morning rush hour on September 14. The collision occurred shortly before 8am, and despite emergency treatment, the woman died later that day at a major trauma centre.
Emergency response and arrest
Paramedics and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance treated the victim at the scene before transporting her to a major trauma centre, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The woman has not yet been formally named by the Metropolitan Police.
Witnesses described seeing the woman 'bounce off a tree and hitting a Lime bike' during the early morning collision, according to LondonNow. One onlooker reportedly provided CPR as help arrived at the scene.
Responding officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs. He remained in custody as of the evening of September 14.

Enquiries are ongoing, and police have urged anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward to assist the investigation. The London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7:58am today (14 September) to reports of a road traffic collision on New Kent Road, SE1."
The service added: "We sent ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London's Air Ambulance. We treated a patient at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority."
